LATISSE® Solution

What Is LATISSE®?

latisse logo

LATISSE® is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. Eyelash hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough lashes. Only LATISSE® has been approved by the FDA as a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis. It also has been studied in clinical trials to demonstrate its safety and effectiveness.

How Does It Work?

LATISSE® contains an active ingredient called bimatoprost, which has been clinically proven to promote lash growth. LATISSE® is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in 2 ways; first, it increases the length of this phase and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase.

How Soon Will I See Results?

The majority of patients will see significant improvement within 2 months. Most people will see optimal results within 4 months.

What Are The Possible Side Effects With LATISSE®?

In clinical trials, side effects were mild and temporary and occurred in less than 4% of patients. The most common side effects were eye itching or eye redness. LATISSE® may cause other, less common side effects, which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied. These include skin darkening, irritation, dryness, or redness.

LATISSE® contains 0.03% bimatoprost ophthalmic solution, which has been shown to cause permanent iris pigmentation when exposed directly to the eye over long periods of time. While there are no incidences of iris pigmentation during clinical trials, it is important to know this is a potential side effect of LATISSE® if used improperly.
